The Western Chieftain Railtour. 19th-21st June 2009.

After stewarding the Fathers Day Fellsman charter with Compass Tours and alighting the train at Wigan North Western, I awaited the return of Pathfinder Tours "Western Chieftain" three-day charter which was en route from Inverness with D1015 WESTERN CHAMPION.

This view of the thousand at Wigan NW was photted from the southern end of the station's Down platform:

A very good tour indeed from start to finish, I got on at Stafford and got off at Preston and had a good time from Start to Finish. D1015 was indeed a true credit to all involved with it and I hope it visits Scotland again and really enjoyed the chance to experience the Scottish Countryside on Loco hauled without working.

10 out of 10 for the person who forwarned Saucy Mary's in Kylekin on Skye that we were coming, I think a few of us on here were present(certainly got a shock when I realised it was Brendan(aka 25298) who was buying the beers) and i would like to see a picture of the seminar which happened in the grounds of this pub.
Finally did anyone do Robbie The Pict's justice bus back the Kyle?

Hi Neil (50031)

Having viewed your phots of the tour has made me turn green with envy as I wasn't able to do the tour due to work. However, I'm pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable three days, and that the tour went well.

It was a spiffing 3 days old bean and it was noticed that such an old hydraulic era fool such as yourself didn't show up...
